warning spyware detected computer blue screen

If you are seeing the message "warning spyware detected" on computer blue screen it probably is evident that some sort of spyware has taken over the operating system of your computer

In such cases the damage may be caused by a combination of several factors. The spyware may have been downloaded inadvertantely when downloading the software and the famous "warning spyware detected computer" message would start to appear, this system normally tries to get the user to purchase an antispyware software. This in itself is a contradiction and should immediately be shown to the user that such antispyware is bogus and is there only to get the user's money whilst never removing the warning spyware removal message from the blue screen itself in the first place.

Computer technicians who try to delete such spyware from their user's computers normally state that users reported that a Blue desktop with warning spyware threat is the normal description that people use to describe what they call as a computer infestation or manipulation by an unwanted third party program that has installed itself without authorization on a computer system.

how to detect that your computer is infected with the Blue screen warning spyware threat

A PC could be infected if one or more of the following symptoms:

* The PC works exceptionally slow, especially when surfing the Internet.
* The Internet Explorer opens window advertising, in no discernible connection to the Web sites visited.
* The browser home page has been changed.
* In the Favorites folder are links that are not stored by the user.
* The PC connects to the Internet independently.
* The firewall reports ongoing attempts by programs that connect to the Internet.
* Delete independent
* There is a spyware warning on the desktop as wallpaper

As Malware (suitcase word from English. Malicious, "malicious" and software) refers to computer programs, which the user unwanted and possibly harmful functions. As a user generally do not tolerate malicious programs are usually disguised Schadfunktionen or the software runs entirely unnoticed in the background (typing see below).

Schadfunktionen can, for example, the manipulation or deletion of files or technical compromise the security software or other safety equipment (such as firewalls and antivirus software) of a computer. It is also common malware that proper uninstallation with the common funds generally fails, so that at least software fragments remain in the system. This may also be able to continue after uninstalling damage.

Malware means no faulty software, even if they do damage.

Distinguishes itself into the following types:

* Computer viruses are the oldest type of malware, they spread by copies of itself in programs, documents or disk write. A partially defective virus called "Intended virus. This usually causes only a "primary infection" of a file, but is not able to continue to reproduce.
* A computer worm is similar to a computer virus that spreads but directly through networks like the Internet and tried to intrude into other computers.

* A Trojan horse (short Trojans) is a combination of a (sometimes seemingly) useful economic program working with a hidden, malicious part, often spyware or a backdoor. A Trojan horse is not widespread, but advertises the usefulness of the marketing program for its installation by the user.
* A backdoor is a common Schadfunktion, usually by viruses, worms or Trojan horses introduced and installed. It allows an unauthorized third party access ( "back door") to the computer, but hidden and bypassing the usual safety devices. Backdoors are often used to the compromised computer as a spam distribution or denial of service attacks to abuse.

It is suspect that the spyware software installs a cookie so that the system can later be used in the recognition of the computer for re-visiting the site deposited. The cookie contains an ID under which all retrieved data side provider. By registering the software takes data about the user to the manufacturer. All of renewed visits entered data can already be assigned to existing data. This concealment tactics, a personal firewall or anti-virus program the espionage activities would no longer recognize.

TECH SPOTLIGHT : New virus detector diagnoses, rubs out uninvited software

When it comes to the Internet, you can never be too careful.

I learned that the hard way with a bit of a rude awakening this week. So I’ve decided to provide a warning to everyone — don’t let it happen to you.

I’ve had my PC protected by one of the basic but well-regarded anti-virus programs. It’s supposed to protect against spyware, adware and other nasty things.

I’ve had the program for a while, but it updates daily, so I’m thinking I’m fine.

That is, until I installed and started testing PC Tools’ Internet Security.

Installation took a bit of time because you have to uninstall all other anti-virus programs first. This isn’t unusual, because multiple programs sometimes can conflict, causing them to not work properly and leaving the computer vulnerable. So I uninstalled my regular program, with the full intention of reinstalling it once I was done with the PC Tools program. Then I installed Internet Security.

After the installation, it ran a basic scan, looking for viruses as expected, but also looking for other things: Spyware, little programs that do things like log keys or activity; malware, which can cause minor to serious computer malfunctions; and adware, programs installed by Web sites to track Web visits and tailor ads to fit your needs. That’s just some of what the program seeks in its scans.

Almost immediately, I got my rude awakening. Right after the scan started, a message popped up in the bottom portion of the scan window: 2 threats, 14 infections detected.

FOURTEEN infections. Ouch. So much for my beloved anti-virus program.

Luckily, PC Tools not only caught them, it explained what they were and where they were, and at my instruction, it cleaned them off. As it turned out, the infections were all adware, probably the lowest risk. But it explains how all those cruise ads kept popping up while I was planning my cruise in March. Those little programs tracked my visits to the cruise ship site and cruise forums, sent the information to a database and calculated that I would be most interested in cruise ads.

That’s nice, but a bit too intrusive for me. Luckily with one click, those little programs were gone. Just to be certain, I conducted another scan. Everything came out clear.

Internet Security does a lot more than get rid of ad spies. I found it to have a basic interface that was easy to navigate, easy to use and well detailed.

Internet Security is made up of four basic parts: Anti-Spyware, Anti-Virus, Anti-Spam and Firewall. The programs not only protect your browser, but also your e-mail and the computer. In other words, it covers everything.

There are three basic scans in this program: the Intelliscan, the Full Scan and the Custom Scan.

The Intelliscan is the default — it was the scan that found my 14 infections. It covers running programs, browser cookies, the startup folder, Windows registry, ActiveX (animation ) objects and browser settings. That covers the basic areas often infected by Internet-borne viruses and infections.

The Intelliscan is fine for day-to-day protection. But once a week or so, it’s not a bad idea to run the Full Scan. This one covers everything the Intelliscan does, plus it scans all the drives attached to the computer, including portable drives. While the Intelliscan found and cleaned off 14 infections, the first full scan found one more threat and two more infections.

Again... ouch.

The third scan is the Custom Scan, which allows you to choose which areas to be scanned. You can have it not only perform the Intelliscan duties, but customize it so it scans a particular drive each day as well.

Scans can be scheduled, set to automatically start when Windows is started or run manually. Any problems found can be quarantined before they’re cleaned. That way, if it is a threat, it can be isolated to minimize the harm. If it turns out to be a legitimate or wanted file, it can be returned to its place of origin.

One feature I really like with this software is the ability to create a restore point before scanning. Basically, it makes note of the computer and its files, then scans. If removing files after a scan messes up the computer, the computer can be returned to its original state quickly. It’s a nice little safeguard.

Another intriguing feature is the Malware Detective. This should be used if a malware, or virus, is suspected. The Detective will gather information and send it via the Internet to PC Tools, which will analyze the data and provide a possible solution if the software can’t readily provide one. This is good for clearing new or little known viruses.

There are so many ways to customize the features on this software that it can be overwhelming. For the novice, the default settings are fine. But the advanced user will be impressed by how easily the software can be tailored to the computer or to the user’s needs.

My only complaint is that the higher levels of protection did tend to slow the computer’s performance a bit. I especially noticed it when launching my Web browser. But it wasn’t so bad that I would do without it. Not after it found all those infections on my supposedly well-protected computer.

Let that be a lesson, kids. Keep an eagle eye on your anti-virus software. Try out other programs if you can. Your software may not be doing as good a job as you think. It’s better to find out by trying a new program, rather than by losing everything on your machine to a virus.

A new approach to virus removal

Over the past six years a lot of changes have happened in the world of virus removal and computer security. Basically with the advent of Microsofts most secure operating system ever (Windows XP) the world of virii / spyware / rootkits / exploits (collectively I'll refer to them as malware for this article) etc has exploded. Estimates of the number of new virus released each week are normally in the thousands, if not tens of thousands range. Add to that spyware, unwanted applications (e.g. WinAntivirus2008) , trojans, adware ... and the listis enormous.

Recently I have found it is getting harder to ensure that the latest malware definitions are really catching the latest problems. In the last three weeks we have found several pieces of malware or viruses which have had to be carefully hand removed - with new definitions to detect them coming out 2 to 4 days after we have already discovered them.

Malware detection always lags behind the advent of new malware as a new virus / spyware / trojan etc, when it is released, normally has at least several hours, if not days, head start on the first definitions being released. In order for a new definition to be released the Malware has to be noticed, caught, reported, analysed and finally a fix / detection signature released for it. Finally the update has to be downloaded by the end user.

Part of the process we employ when doing a "Spyware Virus" is to run several anti spyware / malware removal and root kit detectors across a system. This of course is quite time consuming, and again - if the malware is a new one, sometimes the only way it is detected is by seeing the results of the malware still present (e.g. rubbish exiting the firewall, strange PC behavious, pop ups etc). Which started me thinking ....

Is it possible that the number if items of legetimate software on the average users PC is growing at a slower rate than the number of malware instances. For example, the average user only wants to surf the net, send emails, write letters, do some word processing and listen to music / videos. Throw into that mix a bit of spreadsheeting, VOIP and games and you are stil only looking at a fairly limited range of software.

On an average week the average user does not add much new software to a system. Microsoft updates and anti virus updates probably account for most of the changes to executable code on a system. Instead of scanning for malware maybe a better solution would be to have a list of known good executable software and run a scan based on that. Any executable code found on a system not in the known good DB can then be flagged as suspicious and that subset of files be scanned / isolated instead of scanning an entire system of mostly good code for the odd piece of rot that has crept in.

Security based not on positive detection of malware but the isolation of unknown code offers a chance to allow quicker detection of potentially dangerous software on a PC. Certify the good code, isolate the unknown code and then apply positive antivirus detection methods against the unknown executables.

Not only does this method have the possibilty of being faster in its scanning of systems (creating and checking hashes is potentially faster than applying heuristic algorithms against an entire executable) but means the ability to certify code as being safe might alleviate some of the Zero Hour threats we face now days. Certainly for someone like me isolating the known good from the unknown means we can rapidly discard 99% of all files in a system has safe and concentrate on isolating the threats in the unknown one percent. It also offers a very positive way of providing reliable scanning from an alternative boot disk on compromised systems.

Historically old anti virus systems (circa DOS and Windows 3.1) were able to add CRC codes or hashes to executable files and then check to see files matched a known hash. That method presents problems today, and has fallen out of favour. However as an off-line virus scan, booted from an alternative operating system or boot disk and making use of a 'white list' database, it has the potential to add another tool to the security experts arsenal.

Heaven knows we need it.

This has been a random thought from the fertile and over caffinated brain of Shane. Thoughts, feed back and offers of millions for the idea welcome.

Spyware on girl’s email snared her older man

A concerned dad has defended his decision to spy on his teenage daughter’s emails after his actions led to the conviction of the older man she was dating.

The man installed spy software on his daughter’s computer after his usually “open” daughter became secretive and withdrawn.

As a result, ice hockey coach Nicholas Lovell, 38, was convicted for five charges of sexual activity with a child.

Lovell was jailed for four-and-a-half-years for having under-aged sex with the 15-year-old who he met while working as an ice-hockey teacher in 2006.

The teenage girl’s dad, who cannot be named to protect the identity of his daughter, said: “Before it started she used to tell me everything.

“But then she started saying she would be in places when she wasn’t and became very withdrawn.

“It came to a head one day when she had said she was with a friend and then we bumped into that friend in town without my daughter.”

Police warned Lovell, from Guildford, Surrey, to stay away from the girl and he signed an agreement to that effect.

But, her concerned parents installed WebWatcher software on her computer anyway.

Emails and messaging between the girl and Lovell were recorded and passed on to police who then arrested Lovell.

The dad added: “I did worry about doing it and, immediately after it came out, she did go mad at me.

“But after counselling, she realised we were doing it to keep her safe and now I have it on all my children’s computers.

“I would recommend it to any other parent without a shadow of a doubt.

“Our relationship is even stronger than ever, it has improved the trust between us.”

After the sentencing at Reading Crown Court on Friday, August 29, Det Con Paul Kerr, of the child abuse investigation unit, said: “Lovell maintained a not-guilty plea throughout the trial and tried to place the blame on the victim.

“He should have known better but chose to make his victim go through a trial, with the trauma that it caused, rather than admit to his crimes.

“He is now beginning a lengthy period of incarceration for his crimes against a vulnerable young girl.

“He made choices about his behaviour and must now face up to the repercussions.”
